FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What should I wear?
A. ICC encourages students to consider respect for others and appropriateness to the situation when choosing their wardrobe. A neat and professional appearance is one way we demonstrate care for others. All students are asked to wear Smart Business Casual attire which includes collared shirts or dress blouses with slacks/khakis/nice jeans or skirts/dresses.
Q. When do I need to arrive?
A. Check-in for all participants: Friday at 8:45 am
Arrival times for Student Leadership training vary.
Q. How can I provide my school administrators with documentation that my student was attending an educational event?
A. Our Event Participation Verification can be used to provide your school with the educational objectives of the conference. Inform the ICC staff early in the conference and they will have the signed forms at the close of the program on the last day. Here is a copy of the form for middle school students and for high school students.
Q. What is the Coach Track for adults?
A. We consider every parent and teacher a child's first communication coach. Parents and teachers are the ones who begin a child’s training and continue until they leave home. We provide training for coaches throughout the conference.
Over the course of the two-day conference, we’ll provide interactive training to include:
Q. Can my younger children who are not participating in the conference come with me to the coach session or join an older sibling?
A. All adult sessions and student labs are intended for registered participants only. The Coach Track is adults-only training. In order to fully engage in the training, parents are asked to arrange for childcare for younger and nonparticipating children. They are welcome, however, to attend the evening program on Friday as it is open to the public.
Q: My student has special needs (autism, allergies, etc). How are special needs managed during the conference?
A: We know that you understand the needs of your student the best. If you believe these needs are easily managed, register your student and include comments to help us provide the best experience for your student. If you anticipate removing your student from a session to provide special care such as medication or a special diet, please indicate this in your comments upon registration. If you have more detailed needs, please contact your conference coordinator prior to registration to see if they can be accommodated.
Q. What do I need to do if my student is attending without me?
A. Students not attending with a parent must be accompanied by a chaperone who will be present during the entire conference and responsible to address any needs or concerns of the student. The chaperone should also have written permission to authorize medical decisions in the event of an emergency for the student during the conference. Chaperones must be at least 25 years old.
Q. What do I do if I can't attend the conference after I’ve registered?
A. If you need to cancel your conference registration you can find our cancellation policy by clicking this link: ICC Cancellation Policy
